Pediatricians: Gina Boutwell, MD and Sarah Schneider, MD
Dr. Boutwell and Dr. Schneider created SYF to help families with overweight/obese children. Their goal was to develop an educational program that would allow their patients to learn how to eat and live healthy.

Dr. Boutwell has two children, one of whom has juvenile diabetes, so she knows how hard it is to keep a close eye on eating habits and healthy diets. Through being a part of the program she has learned a lot about different foods and options for healthy choices for children. She is very proud to be part of the SYF team, and is so pleased to be able to offer the program to her patients and others at SSMC.

Dr. Schneider enjoys staying fit with her family. She likes sailing, hiking, running, and working out in the gym. Pilates has become one of her favorite classes. Her dog and toddler always want to be running and playing outside which is good motivation to join in the fun.
She and her family enjoy trying new recipes and are always looking for healthy alternatives. As a busy family with two full time working parents she is always looking for dishes that are quick and easy or ones that freeze well for later. She enjoys sharing her recipes with the Shape Your Future Team.

Pediatric Registered Dietitian: Nicole Cormier, RD, LDN
Nicole Cormier, RD, LDN is the Pediatric Dietitian at South Shore Medical Center. She is passionate about providing nutrition counseling for individuals and groups. Today, it is more difficult to think of eating for energy. She is dedicated to supporting families to balance eating patterns and learn to develop healthy relationships with food.
Some fun facts about Nicole:
- I enjoy cooking without recipes. I use a lean protein, vegetables, a healthy fat, and a whole grain with whatever herbs and spices I have around.
- I never leave home without a bag full of vegetables, fruits, and nuts. I know I’m going to need energy to be my best, so I set my environment up with high quality energy to get me through the day.
- I think of grocery shopping as a great opportunity to set the tone for healthy behaviors for the week. I have a snack before I go, make a list, fill at least half my cart with vegetables and fruit, and choose lean proteins from plants, dairy, and animals.
- I like to stay active and go skiing, practice yoga, hike with friends, and go kayaking.
